Reverse Advent Calendar courtesy of Julie Van Rosendaal

Julie Van Rosendaal is an award-winning bestselling cookbook author, food columnist on CBC, and blogger behind the immensely popular food blog Dinner with Julie. She also happens to be an author that I work with and a lovely person. Yesterday she posted an absolutely brilliant idea to her Facebook page that has really taken off on social media. You may have seen this already, but if you haven’t, I suggest you take note. It really is a great idea.

Because the need has increased so much this year, today we made a reverse advent calendar to collect food for the Food Bank – we put together two empty wine boxes (there will be plenty available at liquor stores these days!) and will add an item every day for the first two weeks of December. The Calgary Food Bank is helping feed about 10,000 more people per month than usual, and almost half their clients are children.

  1. Great idea! Thanks for sharing.

    1. It was too good not to! I hope it really catches on.

Don’t be afraid. I won’t smite you. Probably.
