Room by Emma Donoghue
Amazing and disturbing. While I found it easy to sympathize with both Jack and Ma, it made me uncomfortable to realize that they both annoyed me, despite the fact that they were literally fighting for their lives. I’m a terrible person, but this is a good book.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Steig Larsson
Incredibly addictive and deliciously twisted. I recommend the book and both versions of the movie, though the original Swedish version was better than the Daniel Craig remake.
