From sea to shining sea, Like Lady Liberty, She reigns over all she seeeeees, She’s beauty and she’s grace, She’s Miss United States… Sixteen years and I still remember it. This movie is golden. Good old Sandra Bullock.

  • The Curious Case of Benjamin Button by F. Scott Fitzgerald

If I’d forgotten how incredibly talented the late great F. Scott Fitzgerald was, this gorgeous illustrated version of his most famous short story (thanks, in part, to Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett) reminded me post haste. Me thinks I’ll have to reread a few of old Fitz’s tales. No. 16 on my challenge. Not technically…

This is a big deal, people! Huge. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again—y’all should read this book. I’ll make it easy: Here it is. Here’s the announcement. Click…

  • You want to read an honest(ly hilarious) review?

Here’s the tame version. And here’s the real nsfw Kendra version: “A few weeks ago, a friend in publishing (that’s right – I have connections) told me I would love a wonderful new author she’s been working with. Being the die-hard cynic that I am, I told her where to shove her opinion, and set off…

  • In the Heart of the Sea

I mean, Thor is in it, so I was never not going to like it. Also, all of the scenes featuring the whale are incredible, and it’s the story that inspired Melville to write Moby Dick. So yeah, it’s good.

  • Soulless by Gail Carriger

Though I did find a few plot points a bit tiresome (we get it, Alexia, your father is Italian, your nose is Roman, your best friends are a flamboyant vampire and a woman with horrendous taste, and your Victorian era suitor is a smoking hot Scottish werewolf Alpha who is the picture of a perfect gentleman…
