Jurassic World
Oh boy. I had so many questions while watching this movie—the two most important, and subsequently most uttered, being: “Who the hell was in charge of Jessica Chastain’s Bryce Dallas Howard’s costume?” and “Wait! What? WHY?!”—but ultimately I enjoyed myself entirely. If you can totally suspend your disbelief (and I mean totally… like, past the point…

The Hateful Eight
What I love about Tarantino is that, despite his love for gratuitous blood and gore and overtly racist—and this time misogynistic—dialogue, he’s a subversive genius. It’s like he’s going around violently flipping tables (ALL THE REVENGE) in order to reveal the larger issue hidden underneath (slavery in Django Unchained is the most obvious example), but his…

Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater
I heart Ronan. These books are just fantastic. And Stiefvater’s prose never ceases to impress. Another for no. 2 on my challenge.

Song of the Sea
What an exquisite movie. Not only is the animation absolutely gorgeous, the story is adorable, entertaining, and beautifully Irish. A children’s movie for all ages.

I did not expect Adam Parrish to be such an enigma, but I’m looking forward to learning even more about his sacrifice. For a boy who never lies, Ronan Lynch…

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
Stiefvater is really a fantastic writer. Her striking prose and a compelling plot alone make The Raven Boys a worthy read, but I was most intrigued by the bonds between the four Aglionby boys. They’re a brotherhood—constantly fighting for and against one another, always within the confines of respect, loyalty, trust, and solidarity. They rely and depend…

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
I feel very strongly about the subject matter of this book. I support death with dignity, and I believe it’s an important issue that should be discussed and considered on a personal and individual level. This novel may have started a conversation for a lot of people, and I think Moyes does a fantastic job portraying a…
